This body of work represents a chapter of Allan’s evolving career. Change is never comfortable nor pleasant for it feels like your body is rejecting a foreign substance through pain. But it is one’s job to find a creative way to cope for the desire to succeed is worth dying for. Though the paintings are not in order, each of them represents his efforts finding a voice with a new subject matter through experimentation while his quest for a new chapter in his career continues. In the process, personal struggles, random thoughts, personal
conversations and expressions flows through his bold paint gestures and compositions.

About the Artist:

Allan paints with a palette knife, applying thick impasto in brilliant colors found only in dreams. His emotions and passion pour through his spontaneous, yet controlled, brushstrokes, creating a three-dimensional experience for his audiences. During his exhibitions, viewers find it difficult to resist the temptation to touch his paintings. With his sophisticated style and obvious passion for painting, Allan has established a national following.

Represented by the Leopold Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri and Strecker Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas, Allan is a highly regarded painter of abstracted landscapes of the Kansas City skyline, the Flint Hills and San Francisco – all inspiring subjects. Allan’s eye-catching red stamp graces each of his paintings, setting them
apart from other works on gallery walls.

Chef Leon may not be Irish, BUT he knows how to create a weekend of specials truly “magical” taking his inspiration from classical Irish fare and adding just a wee bit of faerie dust [ it's a secret ingredient sort of like "love"].  Here’s what Trio’s kitchen leprechauns are offering up this Friday & Saturday [& probably Sunday].  It’s sure to be a solid gold hit!

FRIDAY LUNCH:

• Guinness Battered Fish & Chips
• Leprechaun Stew (SEE BELOW)

FRIDAY & SATURDAY DINNER:

•  Leprechaun Stew with Lamb, Beef, roasted apples & root vegetables on Yukon Gold Mashers

• Corned Beef Brisquet & Colcannon [and devilish mix of mashed potato with Kale, Onion, Scallions & Cabbage] served with minted Peas & Carrots, and topped with Horseradish Sour Cream

Since it is Friday there will still be great Seafood options available as wonderful treasures from the sea abound on our regular menu.

Of course, there will also be Irish Soda Bread [courtesy of the miraculous ovens at Farm to Market Bread Co] and a dessert course calculated to send you straight to heaven;  Bailey’s Irish Cream Chocolate Mousse Cake. We can hardly talk about that without coming close to rapture!

If you really want GREEN BEER, we’re sure we can hunt up some very old food coloring, but we recommend instead you try any number of fine beers & ales that we have on tap & by the bottle.  A wee faerie also tells us that we’ve preserved some Boulevard Irish Ale [rumored to be in short supply].  Don’t be too disappointed if we run out early!

Description: Trio is opening a new page in its artistic displays by partnering with STUFF [a retail business in Brookside] that represents several artists in the KC metro and region. In our first collaboration, we are exhibiting a collection of works by KC artist Lori Buntin.  Entitled “Light/Air/Water” this collection will be on display in our main dining room from Sunday, March 11th thru Saturday, April 21st of 2012.

Lori holds an MFA in painting from Wichita State University and has lived and worked in Kansas City since 2001. She is pioneering on Troost Avenue where she owns a large building that houses Hoop Dog Studio. Buntin’s work is predominantly representational. It is inspired by spaces and objects that embody structural and light qualities that lend themselves to interesting abstract interpretations, surface manipulation, and spatial reorganization.
