Kristin Goering
Native of the Plains
Born and raised in rural Kansas, Kristin Ediger-Goering has been a professional artist for over 20 years. A portion of her early life was spent in the home and studio of Regional Artist, Phil Epp, a close family friend. Inspired to pursue art, Kristin received her art degree with an emphasis in printmaking from Bethel College. She began her early career as a freelance illustrator with Hearth Publishing and the Mennonite Press in Central Kansas. Kristin lives and works in Fairway Kansas with her husband and two children. Her current works are representational paintings and monoprints that emphasize layers of rich color and texture. She also teaches and conducts workshops in the Kansas City area.
The Things that Move Me
“I spend a lot of time outdoors, scouting subjects for my paintings in Kansas or Colorado. I paint the things that move me, large or small. I find interest in common scenes and by painting them hope to present them to the viewer from a novel perspective. My goal is to move beyond typical representationalism, and extend the viewers concept of what is natural or organic.”
